Interviews & Scoops

According to TvGuide.com not only will Chazz Palminteri be returning in S3, so will Ed Begley Jr., Chris Vance, Jacqueline Bisset, and John Doman.
After hearing about Eddie Cibrian coming on board as Maura's love interest for a 3 episode arc, I wondered who Jane's love interest would be this season, and I guess I have my answer. Casey (Vance) will be back. Interesting that Begley Jr.'s Dr. Pike will return to give Maura a hand. Could that mean more Doyle (Doman) encounters? By all reports he winds up on the run. I'm hoping for some interaction between him and both Constance (Bisset) and Hope (Sharon Lawrence) this season. What's Constance's connection to him, I wonder?
Tv Guide also reports that Frank Sr. (Palminteri) will have upsetting news for the Rizzoli's. He's remarrying? That would be my guess. ;)
Season three begins June 5th!

Episode 3x03 Spoilers
RizzlesGirls is reporting that in episode 3x03 we learn more about Rondo, Korsak and what happens to our soldiers when they return home.
On the friendship side of things, Jane and Maura are not back to how it used to be, but they're not any worse either. If that's true then Janet Tamaro has indeed decided to stretch out the rift to more of a "real time" solution, as apposed to a one episode fix. I for one am very glad.
I'm hoping we get the true angst of a friendship in trouble. Things happen in life and friendships are tested. I do believe this can eventually make their friendship stronger. The trick, for me, is making a true story arc that covers several episodes, or even most of the season. Although I don't know how many fans would survive a season of "separation" between the two main characters. There also needs to be a true dealing with their emotions. Jane needs to understand why Maura was so angry and Maura needs to understand why Jane did what she did. I'm hoping this isn't dealt with in a comedic way like 'He Ain't Heavy, he's my brother' "Well I hate you a little less" type thing. That episode was good, in my opinion, but in episodes like that the resolution is a bit rushed to make sure they're friends by the end. It's looking like the season 3 rift will be dealt with in a more realistic timeline.

More Season 3 SPOILERS
"As Rizzoli & Isles' second season came to an end, a deep wedge was driven between the two friends when Jane shot Maura's biological father, gangster Paddy Doyle (guest star John Doman). He had shown up unexpectedly at a secret undercover operation to protect Maura from a deadly assailant, but the scene quickly got out of control, forcing Jane to shoot Paddy. The aftermath strains Jane and Maura's relationship as they try to understand and justify their reactions. When the third season opens, they are taken by surprise by an internal affairs investigation, pushing their friendship even closer to the breaking point.
Ever the professionals, Jane and Maura will work hard to set aside their differences as they investigate a number of complex and troublesome crimes. Among their cases are the murder of a female graduate student, whose strangled body is found hidden in tunnels under her university; a killer with a bizarre doll fetish who hunts women on public transportation, then leaves their bodies posed on benches; and the stabbing of two young homeless veterans who survived Afghanistan only to be brutally murdered in an alley. On the home front, Jane's meddling mother, Angela (Lorraine Bracco), is determined to play matchmaker. And Maura's life gets more complicated as she searches for - and uncovers - the truth about her biological mother (guest star Sharon Lawrence)."

Tv Guide: NYPD Blue alum Sharon Lawrence will guest-star on Rizzoli & Isles as Maura's biological mother, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Lawrence will appear in two episodes in Season 3 as Hope, who gave up Maura (Sasha Alexander) for adoption when she was 18 following her relationship with crime boss Paddy Doyle (John Doman). She's now a prominent doctor and an activist for women's health with secrets of her own...
Executive producer Janet Tamaro previously told TVGuide.com that Maura will be compelled to look up Hope in the wake of her parents' scares. "Now [that we're going into Season 3] you can really get into background, and Maura's is so mysterious. She's going to learn a lot about herself," Tamaro said. "And let's just say if dad dies, dad is the only one who knew who her mother was. ... That's a pretty interesting character. Whoever was involved with Paddy Doyle and had a baby at 18 and is as intellectually gifted as Maura — who is she?"

Season 3 scoop from Shane Saunders:
The first episode back is titled “What Doesn’t Kill You,” and it continues the search for Paddy Doyle. Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has been tasked with the placing a BOLO, but she’s refused (ruh roh!). She’s realized how her gal pal Dr Isles (Sasha Alexander) life was in danger, and is getting the bark from her bosses for denying an order. Korsak comes to her defense, but it only makes things worse (double ruh roh!). A demotion may also be involved (evidence management!).

Season 3 SPOILER from TVGuide Megabuzz:
Your Rizzoli & Isles postmortem says "we may get into" how Jane and Maura met. Does that mean a flashback episode? — Jacob
ADAM: Affirmative! Look for one in early Season 3. "I have always toyed with the idea of doing a scene about how they met and I think I've come up with an elegant way to do it," executive producer Janet Tamaro tells us. "I think as they try to find their way [to being friends again] it will be interesting to see how they first became friends."

Anything good happening on Rizzoli & Isles? —Sammy
NATALIE: The most difficult part of being a cop is putting those you love in the way of potential harm. The ladies will learn this the hard way when two family members are the victims of a hit-and-run as well as a shooting.

11 Best Shows of 2011 on Zimbio
#11 Rizzoli & Isles "The great thing about Rizzoli and Isles is the character interplay. Plots are important, don’t get me wrong. But in most detective shows I can figure out whodunit as soon as the whoduner appears on screen. I think we are all drawn to the personal relationships and interactions of the people on screen, and I loved watching the characters on Rizzoli and Isles develop during the 2nd season. At the end of the day, with crime procedurals it all comes down to — hey, I would really like to hang out with these guys. I want to share a beer at the end of the case!"
